Märkte
Wer einen guten Eindruck vom authentischen Leben an der Algarve erhaschen und sich einen Überblick über die lokalen Produkte verschaffen möchte, dem sei ein Besuch der Wochen- und Monatsmärkte in der Region empfohlen. Die Märkte finden meist samstags statt und sind bis 13 oder 14 Uhr geöffnet. Hier ein kleiner Überblick:
Loulé (ein sehr berühmter und gut besuchter Markt mit vielen landestypischen Produkten)
São Bras de Alportel
Lagos
Faro (sonntags vormittags)
Tavira (jeden 3. Samstag im Monat)
Estoi (jeden 2. Sonntag im Monat)
Der berühmte Fischmarkt in Olhão ist ebenfalls einen Besuch wert. Geöffnet ist er montags bis freitags von 7-14 Uhr sowie samstags zwischen 7 und 13 Uhr. Sonntags bleibt er geschlossen. In der Markthalle nebenan gibt es frisches Obst und Gemüse, samstags vormittags werden zwischen dem Hafen und den Markthallen lokale Produkte verkauft – auch in Bio-Qualität.
Interessant zum Stöbern und für die Interaktion mit Einheimischen sind die monatlichen Flohmärkte, unter anderem in:
Estoi & Lagos: jeden 1. Sonntag im Monat
Tavira: jeden 1., 2. und 4. Samstag im Monat
Fuzeta: jeden 2. Sonntag im Monat
São Bras de Alportel: jeden 3. Sonntag im Monat
Quelfes: jeden 4. (und 5.) Sonntag im Monat

If you want to get a good impression of authentic life in the Algarve and get an overview of the local products, we recommend a visit to the weekly/monthly markets in the region (Saturdays, usually until 1pm/14pm), e.g. here:

The famous fish market in Olhão is worth a visit (Mondays to Fridays, 7 am – 1 pm, Saturdays 7 am – 1 pm; closed on Sundays), fresh fruit and vegetables are available in the market hall next door, and local produce (including organic) is sold outside on Saturday mornings.
Interesting for browsing and interacting with locals are the monthly flea markets, e.g. in:

Tavira: every 1st, 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month
Fuzeta: every 2nd Sunday of the month
São Bras de Alportel: every 3rd Sunday of the month
